Mr. Sievers joined our Richmond Office in January of 2010. His practice includes representation of businesses, individuals, insurers and government entities in civil litigation and administrative proceedings in federal and state courts, and before state agencies. He practices in the areas of premises liability, products liability, insurance coverage, defamation, and employment matters, as well as general personal injury and property damage. During his time in private practice, Mr. Sievers has been lead counsel for more than thirty Circuit Court cases which were tried to verdict. Mr. Sievers also practices in the appellate courts and has participated in cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
Prior to joining the private sector in 2006, he served as an Assistant Attorney General and Associate Solicitor General for the Commonwealth of Virginia serving as general counsel to the Virginia Employment Commission, the Department of Dispute Resolution and various state Boards and Agencies. He was instrumental in the appellate process for many of Virginia’s high-profile cases. Prior to his service with the Commonwealth of Virginia, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Glen M. Williams, Senior U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Virginia.
